Celebrating 10 Years of FAITH! in Minnesota!
In 2023, the FAITH! Program celebrated a decade of community-engaged cardiovascular health promotion in Minnesota. Dr. LaPrincess Brewer, a Mayo Clinic cardiologist, founded FAITH! in Baltimore, Maryland in 2008 and expanded it to Minnesota when she joined the Mayo Clinic Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in 2013. The program addresses cardiovascular health disparities faced by African-Americans in faith communities and beyond. Over those ten years, Dr. Brewer built lasting partnerships with African-American churches in Rochester and the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and established a FAITH! Community Steering Committee made up of a diverse group of community representatives and leaders.
